The development process can be separated into 5 stages including:

PLANNING AND SPECIFICATION

The most crucial stage of website development is planning: how our customers will use it, how they work, their business protocols, their clients, sales process etc.

From commission, stage one combines consultancy with fact-finding. During the process of understanding your business we inevitably uncover and advise on ways in which your website can work to complement and often improve business protocols. We look at competitors, internal structure, requirements and both long and short term aims and objectives before we develop a final specification including timescales and budgets. This specification will form the blueprint of your website, from which our designers and developers will work.

DESIGN AND VISUALISATION

From the final specification, we develop the visual style of the site including branding, site navigation, techniques menu systems, internal promotional areas, layout, typographic styles and flash animation etc. In short, we develop a mock-up of the site for your approval to ensure that the visual style is agreed before the programming and development of the final site begins.

DEVELOPMENT OF FINAL SITE

Once the design style has been approved, Search and Submit developers and designers will construct the final site to the specifications, timescales and budgets detailed in stage one. This will include development of the core database, content management system, cross site branding, graphic content and interactions with third party and client systems. As each area of the site is completed we will check it against the specification and present it for testing.

TESTING AND TRAINING

As each section is completed, presented and approved as per the development schedule, we recommend a period of testing and evaluation with live data before the site is launched. The level of testing depends on the complexity of the site, database interaction, expected traffic and connection to client operations.

During this period Search and Submit will also be available as required to train staff/administrators to manage all aspects of the website, including content management, third party data input, on site advertising, report generating etc. This training period not only accustoms website administrators to managing the site, but also gives an added dimension to testing.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION

We recommend that an ongoing development strategy is implemented to asses the site's performance, analyse its usage and adjust accordingly; resolving any topical problems that may arise.

Also, importantly, the Internet is constantly changing as technology advances and users become more demanding. Assessment and development of the site will ensure that it remains in the vanguard, constantly achieving its goals and out-performing the competition.
